More adventure, less crowded.

The North Warren Wilds are ready. Are you?

Our wild mountains, lakes and rivers are all waiting to be conquered. Bring your bikes, your boats, your skis, your sleds. Our trails are open, but not overpopulated. Our lakes are breathtaking, but not choked with traffic. And our après scene is ready to add in your endorphin-soaked afternoon and evening.

Riding Cord

Gore Mountain, with 453 skiable acres, offers 115 trails for all abilities. Ski or ride down Cloud and enjoy views of the Adirondack High Peaks, and Vermont’s Green Mountains in the distance.

Local tip: Bypass the main base— Take the Hudson Chair: Ride up to the top of Little Gore Mountain. Navigate to Burnt Ridge: Take the Peaceful Valley trail, cross the Eagle's Nest Bridge (skier's right), and follow Eagle's Nest trail down to the Burnt Ridge Quad.

Paddling Volume

After all of that snow melts, it comes roaring down the Hudson River, where rafters, kayakers, and canoeists paddle through hydraulics and eddies in search of the perfect wave train. There are parking pull-offs along Rt. 28 in North River, and other riverfront parking downstream near the Riparius Bridge.

Local tip: You don’t need to paddle solo. Several experienced guides like Square Eddy Expeditions and Beaver Brook Outfitters can get you on the water without any guesswork.

Take to the Trails

You’ve likely heard of 46ers, those that scale all 46 High Peaks. We appreciate the 4,000’ summits of our northern neighbors. The North Warren Wilds are your entry point to enjoy the forest trails that dot our region, leading to beautiful views and endorphin surges at a slightly less ambitious pace.

Local Tip: Check out the Brant Lake Challenge, a hiking itinerary that consists of four different hikes. Pharaoh Mountain, Swede Mountain, Bartonville Mountain, and Fox Hill, which offer scenic views of Brant Lake and the surrounding peaks, ranging from easy family-friendly walks to challenging full-day climbs.

The Chester Challenge is another chance to hike in the Adirondacks, while keeping the trip just shy of an hour or up to 4 if you crave a climb. Visit 6 of the 10 tails and get a pin or patch to commemorate your adventures.

Grind Some Gravel

Gore Mountain offers lift-served downhill mountain biking at the North Creek Ski Bowl, featuring over 20 km of trails with a 1,000-foot vertical drop. Riders use the Hudson Chair for access to flow trails, rollers, and technical, rocky, or root-filled descents. Pints and plates can be found at Timber & Thyme in the base lodge, The Station.

For purists who love earning their turns, the Brant Lake Bike Park is a privately owned, free-to-use trail system behind The Hub, a local restaurant and bar. It features over 5 miles of professionally built single-track trails on 207 acres, offering a mix of flow trails, climbs and rewarding views of Brant Lake.

Paninis and a locally-brewed lager are waiting at the bottom.

Find Your Stride

Garnet Hill Lodge offers 35 miles of daily groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing. Notable routes include trails to the frozen Thirteenth Lake and the advanced Skullbuster Hill, with views of Mt. Marcy.

The outdoor center is a full-service tuning shop that provides equipment rentals and professional repairs. There are also certified instructors to help fine-tune your schuss. This destination also provides access to 75 miles of marked, ungroomed backcountry routes through the Siamese Ponds Wilderness.

Wild adventures

When it comes to fresh air, altitude, adrenaline, and aprés, the North Warren Wilds checks all the boxes. Your favorite outdoor activities, without a crowded trailhead parking lot.
