Time to get your feet wet.

Boating

Marinas on Brant Lake, Loon Lake, and Schroon Lake offer boat rentals with full and half-day rates. Or, you can back your own trailer down one of several New York State DEC boat ramps.

Before you launch, visit a boat wash station near the launch site to make sure invasive species like Zebra Mussels or Milfoil don’t make their way into our waters!

Fishing

From Largemouth Bass to colorful Brookies, the North Warren Wilds is an angler’s paradise. Whether you’re casting from the bow of a center console, or wading into the Hudson River in Riparius, the Schroon River in Horicon, or Trout Brook in Pottersville, you’re in for a treat.

Hope you brought your net, and a camera

White water rafting

It’s the ultimate team-building activity. Sink your paddle into the next eddy and pull your boat through Class III rapids. There’s guaranteed laughter, splashing, and shouting.

If you’re more of a solitary soul, the Hudson’s hydraulics present a challenge to the most seasoned kayaker. If a canoe is more your speed, try the White Water Derby every spring in North Creek.

Paddling

The North Warren Wilds have plenty of rapids, but there are also still waters to explore. Thirteenth Lake, Garnet Lake, Loon Lake, Friends Lake, Brant Lake, and Schroon Lake all offer easy access for paddlers.

Explore new waters from your SUP, Kayak, or Canoe, and leave the boat traffic in your wake. Be sure to have your rig checked for invasive species before launching!

Swimming

“Go jump in the lake.” is a compliment, here. Set up a blanket on Loon Lake Beach. There’s another on Brant Lake, and the Town of Horicon’s public beach on beautiful Schroon Lake. Grab a tube and float down the Schroon River or the Hudson.

Our lakes and rivers are crystal clear and the perfect way to refresh on a hot summer day.

Tame the Wild river.

Get on the water, and feel your shoulders drop. Beaches swimming holes, lakes, rivers, and tributaries are waiting for you to cannonball your way through the season.
